Thanks for the link! I wonder if the writer oversimplified Freud’s take: the focus on the Egyptians makes sense, I suppose, given the importance of the Moses story, but monotheism clearly (to me) comes from Zoroaster/Zarathushtra, and many monotheisms, up to Islam, have kept Zarathushtra’s concept of the formless god.
I’m too lazy to work my way through a book like that, but I suspect it’d be an interesting read. I don’t actually think he’s right, but it’s certainly an interesting theory. A friend of mine pointed out though that quite a bit of historically known deep thought comes from greek culture, despite the fact that, as Freud says, they worshiped gods that you were supposed to be able to run into on the street and even be impregnated by.
The Greeks got a lot of that from the Persians, sort of like the USA learned a lot from the British and French.
And people, even or maybe especially great thinkers like Freud, will see their own community’s imagery in metaphorical ways while assuming others see them literally.
Wonderful! I especially loved the walker chained to the light pole.
Simply brilliant, many of those would have me chuckling all day. Art + Humor =’s good thing.
Some folks apparently have a great deal more motivation than I do. Great work.
Fun! And yet, weirdly disturbing…

Yup. Two thoughts:
