Because I do not want to move my possessions again.
And by North American standards, I’ve hardly got anything. We loaded a 15 foot truck and had room to spare.
Very nice day today. Finally starting to feel like we’re not visiting, because most of the stuff’s unpacked and in place. Here’s my big revelation on how [...]

Will do a proper trip report soon. It’ll be short: “Good move! Much unpacking, maybe 90% done. Ought to be resuming the writing life on Monday.” Oh. I guess that’s it.
Actually, I’d like to write a little about the move and about moving, so I might. Right now, no brain. I think the cat played [...]

That’s the motto of moving day. Yes, “it can be done!” makes a stronger battle cry, but we’re at the state where we can barely think, “It’s doable. It’s doable.”
It’s a beautiful morning in Bisbee. Here’s to a beautiful evening in Tucson!
Oh. As for bad moments in moving so far, I do not recommend making [...]

I’ve been disengaging from Bisbee. It’s like ending a romance, because it is ending a romance. I keep thinking I’m leaving Salma Hayek because Renee Zellwegger wants me, and Renee’s throwing in a place to stay. But maybe I’ll come back to Salma someday, and I sure can’t complain about having to go off with [...]

I’m going to post The Secret Academy in chapters from now on. If i was doing something like a novel-in-a-month writing binge, daily installments would make sense. But, for this, I think I’d rather do chapters. I’ve deleted the beginning of Chapter Ten and will post the whole of it in a few days.
Toby’s name [...]

Don’t know when I’ll resume posting the novel. Sent off my new book proposal yesterday. Might write another short story before getting back to the novel. I wish publishers would pay by the chapter. It’s hard to work toward a distant payment when you have immediate expenses, but that’s part of the writer’s life.
Don’t expect [...]

Ruth mentioned that she’ll be in Bisbee. Here’s a public offer that I reserve the right to retract: Anyone who’s coming this way is welcome to email us to see if we’re free to meet for a cup of coffee. There are several places in Bisbee that we’re quite fond of, all within a short [...]

Today’s Bisbee moment: It was quite cold this morning, so I decided to try putting a second electric heater in the bedroom on the theory that if the two plugs were not on separate lines, the worst that could happen would be that the circuit breaker would be tripped. I knew where the breaker box [...]
